Obituary for Anna M. Padget

Anna (Ann) Padget, 78, died May 3, 2017at Unity Point Health-Allen Hospital.

She was born June 1, 1938 in Pocahontas, Iowa to parents Clarence Guy and Evelyn Erickson Vote. On September 22, 1956 she married John Padget at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death. She was a homemaker, sold Avon and later in life worked as a designer in several different flower shops in the Waterloo-Cedar Falls area.

She is survived by her four children Kim (Grant) Veeder of Waterloo, John (Marla) Padget, Jr. of Cedar Falls, Julie Padget and Susan Padget both of Waterloo; grandchildren Ryan (Waterloo) and Sean Veeder (Des Moines, IA), Brandon (Asheville, NC) and Arthur Padget (Maplewood, MN), Emily and Elizabeth Padget, Waterloo; great-grandchildren Isla Padget and Deacon Padget . She very much wanted to meet the newest additions to the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Bernard Vote, Merlyn Vote, Clarence Vote, Roger Vote and Bruce Vote.

Ann was a very creative woman and enjoyed painting, quilting and gardening. She had a beautiful flower garden inspired by Monet’s garden at Giverny, France. She was a wonderful cook and shared her talents with her family, her church, and the Food Bank. She supported the latter by making soups for the Empty Bowl fundraiser.

Ann was an especially active member of the former Grace United Methodist Church and currently of Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church. But most of all she was a loving mother, grandmother and gigi to her great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church, Tuesday, May 9, 10:30 AM. with burial in Mt. Vernon Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, May 8, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Hagarty-Waychoff- Grarup Funeral Service at 300 W. Ridgeway Avenue and an hour before the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Planned Parenthood or Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church.
