Obituary for Elijah J. Showalter

Elijah J. “Eli” Showalter, 20, of Waterloo, died Friday, January 12, in Cedar Falls due to an automobile accident.

He was born July 21, 1997 in Waterloo, son of Andrew Showalter and Carie McNamara.

Eli attended East, West and Expo High Schools. He had been employed with Thorp Family Fun and Waterloo Walmart.

Eli was a free soul, outgoing, spontaneous, goofy, at times too much or doing the most, always had a crooked ass goofy smile on his face, was a loving, caring, honest, respectful, admirable, courteous, loyal, courageous, humble, and fearless individual. Eli never gave up!

Elijah hobbies include, driving, hanging with friends, going on random road trips, snowboarding and taking snowboarding trips, playing Xbox, riding dirt bike, riding 4 wheeler, going muddin, jammin to music, chilling with friends, most of all Elijah's favorite hobby was living life and enjoying the many sensations good and bad that it came with.

Survivors include: his mother, Carie (Shane Pietan) McNamara of Waterloo; his father, Andrew (Amanda Qualley) Showalter of Cedar Falls; two brothers, Jacob Showalter and Brady McDonald, both of Waterloo; maternal grandparents, Nick and Terie McNamara of Waterloo; paternal grandmother, Carol Showalter of Waterloo; paternal grandfather, Aaron Doolin of Cedar Rapids; paternal grandmother, Joleen Spencer – (Emmanuel) Oladeinde of Chicago, Illinois; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in death by: his paternal grandfather, James Showalter.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Payne Memorial A.M.E. Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street and for an hour before services on Saturday.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
