Obituary for Ivan A. Bullerman

Ivan “Butch” Bullerman, 67, of Waterloo died Saturday, January 6, at the Waverly Health Center.

He was born July 12, 1950 in Decorah, son of Alice and Alphonse Bruess Bullerman. He married Margaret “Peggy” Harp on September 21, 1968 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waterloo.

Ivan graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1968. He later completed his Certified Financial Planner designation through Drake University. He cofounded Key Financial Services in 1977 which is now known as Financial Resource Advisors and served clients in that capacity and the business as President/CEO until his retirement in 2007. Ivan was a long time member of Cedar Valley Church, Heartland Vineyard Church and most recently Hope City Church and served in countless ministry endeavors within those churches as well as with Promise Keepers and the Gideons.

Survived by: his wife, Peggy; two sons, Jeremey “Jay” and Chris, both of Waterloo, seven grandchildren, Makenna, Marissa, Ben, Seth, Maggie, Gabe and Sophie Bullerman; three sisters; Sandy (Dave) Neuendorf of Buckingham, Doris (Al) Haugen of Evansdale and Joyce (Greg) Sadler of Waterloo; and five brothers; Bob (Judy) of Galesville, Wisconsin, Floyd (Rosie) and Pat (Gail), both of Waterloo, Mike (Georgia) of Boubannais, Illinois, and Terry (Lisa) of Lawrence, Kansas.

Preceded in death by: His parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Jan.10, at Cedar Valley Community Church in Waterloo with burial at the Waterloo Cemetery on Kimball Ave. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, and for an hour before services on Wednesday, all at the church.

Memorials in lieu of flowers: may be directed to the family or Veridian Credit Union in the name of the family with funds being directed later to Ivan’s favorite charities.

Ivan loved to hunt and fish and watch sports, especially the Packers, Dodgers and Hawkeyes, with his friends and family. He enjoyed traveling with Peggy for business and pleasure including wintering in Florida. He enjoyed spending time doing home and yard projects. His home was the gathering place for family and he and Peggy hosted family, friends and church groups selflessly and loved to do so. Most of all Ivan loved his Lord Jesus Christ and serving Him in any capacity he was called to.
